Right now I have a 15 gal saltwater which was given to me. It has been running for about 3 months and I really want to upgrade to a bigger tank (probably 55 g). The catch is, I am going to college next year and won't be able to take it with me to my dorm but I will be close enough to home in order to do major maintenance stuff (i.e. water changes and stuff) but will rely on my younger brother to feed my fish daily. I guess my question would be do you think it'd be worth it to upgrade the size?

Also, how hard do you think it'd be to transfer things in my 15g to a new 55g? I figured it could be like a really really big water change if you think about it haha.

In your situation, I wouldn't risk it. I would forgo a tank until you can take care of it yourself. Tanks requires nearly constant attention and if you don't know what your're doing, it could easily go south quickly. If you feel you can be there, then fine. But you don't want it to be a hassle and a constant worry.

i would say no unless your system will be lightly stocked or coral only

Yeah, thats a good point. The only thing is, what if the 55g is given to me with all the equipment and everything? Should I just take it and store it for a couple of years?

Im a university student living in a house with roomies and i have a 55gallon long saltwater aquarium. School is almost done and although i only live fourty minutes away, I will be coming here every two days to check up and stuff. Also, the 55 gallon long is probably the worst aquarium in the market as it is WAY!!! too narrow but i too got mine for free. I would never suggest purchasing the size tank. I would suggest bringing the nano with you to school, even though its small, nanos are still amazing to enjoy.

If given to you... for sure accept it and hold on to it, or even give it to me
