I currently have 2 tanks running at my parents and I bought 2 new upgrades in my new house. A 37 going into a 65 and a 90 going to a 220. The 37 is running with about 40 lbs of live rock and a canister filter with live rock rubble and carbon. Would I be safe to move it to the new tanks without experiencing a cycle if I kept the live rock submerged while moving and hooking up the canister filter temporarily? Idealy I want to eliminate the canister filter on this tank once tank is running. The current 90 gallon is running with about 100 lbs of rock and bio balls in the sump. Basically the same question if I move it and take the bio balls will I experience any sort of cycle. Bio balls will also eventually be removed (huge nitrate trap), I will also be adding some live rock that was removed from another system and left to dry out

Well, how long is the move, but you may not have any cycle at all, but theres always a chance of a mini cycle when doing something like this. If everything is kept wet, you should be ok. Also use new sand and just seed with a few cups of yours, and that new live rock that has been dried out may cause you that mini cycle due to the dead stuff on it, I'd cycle that rock in a bin before adding it to your DT.

How are you planning on doing to the transfer?

The move is about a half an hour drive I'm planning on getting a bunch of rubber maid tubs and putting everything in them. Each fish will have their own tub. Rocks in another. I was originally going to cycle the tanks before moving the fish but I don't want to have to buy all new rock. Some of the fish in the 90 however will not handle an ammonia spike (puffers) I'm just weighing out options right now I don't want to risk losing any fish

Are you using new sand? That is prob a must, but I'd say if you do it right, you shouldn't have a mini cycle, but have some WC's ready and Prime just in case.
And cycle that dead rock before adding it, IMO

Yes I have already bought new sand I will be taking a handful out of each tank to help seed the new sand bed.
