I just have a quick question. I am moving my tank to another house.. and I was wondering should I preserve the current water in my tank? or should I mix brand new water?

I would try to keep as much water as you have room for...maybe leave out 10-20% so that would be like doing a water change.

Keeping as much water as you can will keep water parameters stable and prevent shock to corals and invertebrates.

I agree, keep most of your water, but be careful if you mix up your sand you can release lots of crap. If it gets reallly bad you might want to do a bit bigger water change.

Remove all your live stock and then store up as much water as you possibly can. I would suggest getting new sand because its likely yours is gonna have alota crap in it thats gonna get mixed up and pollute the new water. I moved a big tank before and it was no fun so good luck to ya

I'm actually about to move too. I have been cyclying my tank about 3 weeks (it's a new, 29g). I also recently added additional crushed coral to supplement my sand and I probably have about 10 lbs live rock and 30 dry rock. Do you think I should do a 50% water change when i move? I have yet to add fish so when you guys say "crap", do you mean literal fish waste or just significant amounts of dust and nutrients in the sand/crushed coral? Thanks!
