would a mp10 be enough flow for a 40breeder because it say 5-50 gallons, and I dont really want to spend $100 more on a mp20 but I will save up if I have to. what do you think?

MP20. You can scale back if needed. Or 2 MP10's for alternating flow.

I would likely go with 2 MP10's, as that will give you the chance to have flow from both sides, and they have a syncing version of them now.

I would think an mp10 and a k1 just to keep things moving on the other end of the tank would be just fine

im just tryin to think on how i would do this. maybe if i had my overflow in one end and put the return plumbing on the other end and put the mp10 on the return side it would have a one way flow, would that be better?
