    FYI, PAR of 100 on the sand is very respectable. Could you do better with more, sure, but it is sufficient to grow colorful SPS down there (not that you are growing them down there. Especially if there are blue LEDs in there, the PAR is actually higher than what is being reported by the Apogee. The Apogee underestimates blue by up to 50% depending on the spectrum.

    IME, you should shoot for 300 to 600 in the range that you keep sps. If you have trouble growing them in that PAR range, light levels is not your problem. The Apogee meter can be a very important tool if you uinderstand that it is to be used as a baseline.

    It wasn't the par on the sand that had me upset. It was the less than expected on the screen under the lights. About 8" under to be exact. I don't know what I did but whatever it was it wasn't right.
