I'm only in week 7 of cycling and just recently fired up my MTC skimmer. I have a 200g 7' x 2' x 2' with a 75 gallon sump. The aquarium is clear as can be until I start the skimmer. Once the skimmer is going there is a million small bubbles? Doesn't matter how I adjust it! Higher water depth in sump helped a bit but not 100%
Should I use a piece of plastic and create a bubble plate in front of drive pump port to stop it from sucking bubbles through?

I would use a bubble trap to prevent that, I belive it is that same thing as your plate.

You really need a bubble trap. Your skimmer needs to break in and it will calm down at some point. Might not put out and micro bubbles at all... unfortunately, micro bubbles are a problem at some point. The problem with them is they are so small they get swept along. Very hard to stop them. So you need a 3 partition bubble trap and you will never have to worry about them again making them to the display tank. Filter sock are somewhat usefull.
