My multicolor angelfish died suddenly last night. He was a dream fish of mine, and so hard to find. I had him for several months - he was fat, happy, ate like a pig. The day before he passed away he was eating like crazy, swimming, grazing.

I don't know what happened. It was such a shock.

Anyone have this happen with their dwarf angel before? Any idea what it could have been?

Google makes this sudden death seem *fairly common* in dwarf angels, and one idea is an issue with collection. Could that have taken months to come about?

Sorry to hear about the loss. I had a flame angel that was happy and eating the day before it died, so there may be something to that.

Sorry to hear that Kacy. :( It was such a cutie too! Sounds like something internal. :(

Sorry for your loss Kacy. I've had some really healthy fish all the sudden just go down for the count, for no reason. I have no idea why this happens, but it really sucks. Again sorry for your loss.

It is a dry heat, yeah right !
I do not believe an issue with collection would result in a death months later, collection methods have changed a lot in the last 10 years.

Since there is an unexplained death of an other wise healthy fish. I would first check parameters, make sure your angels are getting specific foods designed for marine angels. And try to get your hands on a ORP monitor, that might give you some insight into the issues you are having with the tank with regard to BJD and the anemone and now the fish.

    Hope that helps a little.

I am by no means an expert on the matter but Ive had my share of successes and failures with Dwarf Angels. Over 10 years Ive lost 2 Potters, a Flame, 2 Bi-Colors, and a Coral Beauty. However, Ive managed to keep a Majestic Angel for going on 2 years. I also have a Flame with him. Ive done a fair amount of research on this subject. One of the things that seems to pop up regularly is lack of nutrition. I feed a large variety of frozens, flakes, and pellets now. I also use Selcon in my food once per week. It seems to have helped. But Ive only had this Flame for about a year. Most of the others died the same as yours for no apparent reason. Hope this helps.

Params are all good. This death was actually in my 40 gallon tank.

In the 90 - the BJD was due to damage by another coral, and I'm pretty sure the nem died from the leaking current I had from the protein skimmer (now fixed). All coral and clams in the 90 are happy, happy! ;D Fish too.

All fish in the 40 are fine, so it's really weird. :(
