I did a quick search but didnt come up with much for an answer about having more than 1 goby in a tank.

I was wondering if I could add another goby to my tank? I already have 1 but I think I would like to add another. The present goby is a diamond goby, could I add another or some other kind of goby? Or perhaps a blue spot jawfish?

Tank is 55g's. The diamond goby I have now has taken up residence right in the middle of the tank under the rocks.

in a 55 i would stick to one goby. they can be very protective of their burrows and normally only share when paired. sand sifter or sleeper gobies have shown aggresive behaviour to similar looking species, but then again every fish is different.

the jawfish may work being that it stays in his burrow once settled. but you would need a tank cover because hes a jumper.

It really depends what type of goby you're talking about, there is a HUGE variety of gobies. Not all of them inhabit the substrate.
I don't know if I would put another substrate fish in, personally due to overlapping territories. I'm not sure how aggressive diamond gobies are to other fish but that would just be my preference, I wouldn't risk it unless you have a good idea that they will coexist.

Maybe a goby that likes hanging out on the rocks or swims around like a neon goby or a clown goby.

I was wanting another one for the substrate, but after doing more internet research I think I will just stick with the one, as I dont want to have any potential problems. I need to think of the current inhabitants well being and stress level rather than what I want.

In my 46bow I have a mandarin and a citron clown and they will hang around near each other as if the other never existed.

I also wanted to add another sand goby to my 72. I have a pink/blue spot watchmen. I ended up adding a tiny green clown goby. I havent seen any aggression but they do not hang out anywhere near each other. Plus the watchmen is about 4 times the clown gobies size, and the colors are obviously much different so they probably don't even realize the other fish is from the same family tree.
