Ok So I have a group of tangs and have kept multiple tangs including 3 yellow tangs at one time. My wife just brought home a couple darwin clowns to make 4 now but wants to go and get 2 more hippos to go with the one in there. None of the fish are aggressive and all get along. I currently have a pair of crosshatches, 1 Hippo, 2 yellow tangs, 3 6 line wrasses, 1 unicorn tang, 1 sohal and then some other small stuff that wont matter but can we keep three hippos? I have another tank they can live in if not but she is set on trying. I know we go to the aquarium and there are 4-5 of them in a tank with other tangs and it works. I also have a new black tang in shipping not that they should fight but just trying to give details.

Tough to say, your tank is good sized so I think it would be possible if you acclimate all of the inhabitants carefully.

I think your tank is definitely big enough for them all to have their own space, however, I would worry about the one that is already in there accepting the 2 newcomers. How long have you had the current hippo?

I have never had multiples like this, but everything I researched about things like this said it was best to add ALL multiples at the same time to lessen aggression and territory issues.

I've even heard taking out the existing ones and re-acclimating them and adding them with the new ones....so its kinda like they are all new in a way!

Not sure it it works....not sure its even possible most of the time in our tanks because its so damn hard to catch a fish in our tanks.
