I am on the fence about what I want for my final addition to my tank. I have been looking at Wrasses but have not found one I am in love with yet. Right now I have a pair of normal firefish and am wondering if it would be OK to add another pair from the dartfish family. I was thinking either 2 Zebra Bars or 2 Scissortails. I have read they are peaceful fish, and those are not very similar looking to the Firefish.

    The current stock list is:
    2 Occ Clowns
    2 Firefish
    1 Dwarf Flame Angel
    1 Mandarin
    1 Yellow Watchman w/ pistol
1 High Fin Striped Goby w/ pistol (both small)

    Experiences? Opinions?

    Its a 65.
I'd add bar gobies, they tend to stay lower in the water column, but on second thought they dig and might compete with your shrimp. I don't see why not, they don't look very much alike.

JMO, but the tank seems full on all fronts, except maybe rock work, which would be a wrasse, a sixline for example, but they might out compete your mandarin for pods in that small of a tank.

I think you could do a pair of dartfish if you change water aggressively and filter heavily.

I am also concerned about the wrasse starving the mandarin. I know that max size for a Zebra barred is only ~5".

Is 10 small fish including two bottom dwellers (pistol Gobies) and a rock dweller (Mandarin) really to much for a 65g? It would only really be 7 swimmers.

A fairy or flasher wrasse will not compete with the mandarin in regards to the pod population.

I was just talking about sixlines, fourlines and leopards.

As far as too many fish in the tank, that just depends on how often you change the water, and how (if at all) stressed the fish are. It's really up to you, im just giving my 2cents.For certain species of fish, Minimum tank sizes tend to be over exaggerated IMO, if you do your studying/researching you'll see what I mean.

Everything in there seems very happy and content. None of the fish are picked on into hiding. I think I am going to go for two scissortails.
