Found this guy in the acclimation water(to be discarded) about eight hours after acclimating a new piece of coral a few weeks ago. At the time I found it, it was barely the size of a pencil eraser and was in water, probably, 8-10 degrees cooler than the tank. I was like, "it's probably dead, but what the heck, I'll stick it in there to see what happens." Next day it was already attached and was bigger than a quarter! Pretty neat looking little guy.

Any ideas what it is, where it might be from?

    Thanks!

It's not a ricordia. It almost looks like a watermellon mushroom.

Yeah I think that's what it is. Mushrooms shrink and expand also.

    I get confused

I know this is a regular red shroom, and next to it a blue ric.
The second pic is a shroom and I've seen peeps id the one nxt to it as a ric.

From all I can tell, it's definitely a 'shroom, not a ricordea...mostly because it's very thin. Also, I've looked at several pictures of watermelon mushrooms and don't think it's one of them either. Perhaps I'll make it my own type! ;D
