I have a mushroom that I need an opinion on. First, I'm not sure about flow rate, I'm trying to keep it low on the mushroom and higher elsewhere. Secondly, there are a couple of what I believe to be vermetids on either side of it which may be stinging it, I've circled them in the pic. Should I remove these? If so, how?

I'm new at this, so I can't really say if this mushroom is fully open or not.

    Thanks again,

Looks fine to me. "Fully open" really depends on how much light it has. Less light, more open. This looks in the normal range.

As for the vermetids, they don't sting anything; that's just their fishing line. That line can however, irritate corals. If you want them gone, either break them off at the rock and toss them or use a drop of superglue on the ends of their tubes to seal them in.

Thanks. I removed the vermetids and moved the rock to an area with about the same flow but less light. We'll see how it goes.

I also have mushrooms sort of like that, but they are red. There is a huge amount of seafans on the small rock that the mushrooms are on (sea fans are 1 inch each and there is about 5) and the sea fans appear to be killing or making the mushrooms shrink. Is this possible? How do i fix it??

You might get a better answer if you make a new thread to ask your question. It wouldn't hurt to introduce yourself first as well. Good luck!
