My mushrooms are happiest in the bottom 4" of my tank. They do great in a low flow area as well. Your shrooms will recover, so there really isn't any reason to take them out. It does sound like they got stressed out though. Shrooms split when they are happy and when they are stressed IME.

ok i have had time now to look at your set up its a beautiful nano 38g w/skimmer and cheato algae in the sump i'm going to assume when you do water changes you do 2 to 4 gallons please let me know that being said i'm gonna stick by a lack of iodine is causing the shrooms to shrink and split one of the first test kits i purchased was iodine yes they put iodine in salt mix and when you first fill up your tank its probably close to what iodine should be your skimmer and cheato are taking out the trace eliments that's what they do and there's no way 2 to 4 gallons of saltwater will bring the eliments back to where they shoud be, i have to add 20ml of iodine every 10 days to my 220 to keep it up to par imo you need to check the iodine with a good test kit to see where its at.

+1. Sometimes you have to get some test seperate from a kit.

Hey shroomers! I got one and if he had 1 hair on a chin, that's what he would be hanging on to his rock with, should I just let nature take its course or should I do something?
