if a mushroom dies in my tank could it kill the tank?

what would it look like when it's dieing?

i'm upgrading my 40watts of PCs to T5s how would this effect the mushroom?

I doubt that changing the lighting will suddenly cause a mushroom to die and pollute the tank. Chances are that if they aren't happy they will start shrinking.

I'm also in the process of changing from PCs to T5s. I went too quickly and ended up burning a piece of my toadstool. The polyps stopped coming out on a small corner and it looked blistered. I have 6 bulbs in my T5 fixture and was only running all 6 for 4 hours. So I backed way off and I started out with 2 bulbs lit most of the day and went with 4 bulbs on for 4 hours. I'm increasing the amount of time 4 bulbs are on by 1 hour a day. Once they are on 12 hours a day I'll start with 6 bulbs 1 hour per day and adding 1 hour each day until they are on 12 hours. This should give everything time to adjust to the brighter light.

    Good luck.

the ones i seen just shrank up and fell off and dissappered. i think in a 10 gal. tank anything dying would not be good. depending on how many watts the T5's are.

When mine are unhappy, they just whither. Most of the time though.....they come back full force. I have never heard of them polluting a tank. I would think they just melt away like Xenia and disappear.
