I have one green mushroom in my 20gal,I'd like to see it grow and split,I have it under good light and it stays pretty small,if i move it to a shaded area will this make it open more?grow bigger?split? I know they don't need a bunch of light, but will doing this make it react to search for better light?

Depending on the type of mushroom it may not split. A lot of mushrooms crawl to move and leave a nub that grows into another mushroom. Post a pic so we can determine what type it is. Also, you say you have it under "good light", what does that mean? Tell us ecactly what type of light it is under.

I can't get a good pic(camera is a pos) but my lights are 65watt pc,which is a little over 3 wpg,my tank is only 12"deep and i wasn't sure if maybe it was too bright for it or what(i know my lights are only pc and could be alot better, but i only have a few easy softies in there.)I've kept mushrooms in a much deeper tank with pc's and they exploded!!(hence my avitar)but this one has stayed small for a few months now.

"I've kept mushrooms in a much deeper tank with pc's and they exploded!!" You may have answered your own question. You say 65 watt PC so I take it it is a 2 bulb set up? That may be a little intense as I had 2 50/50 24 watt on my 14 gal. Biocube. So 65 watt compared to 48 watt in about the same shallow tank may be a bit much for that type mushroom. It doesn't mean it is dying it just means that the more light the less the mushroom has to expand to gather the light. You should notice as the bulbs get near their life expectancy of around 6 mos. the mushroom will start to expand more as the spectrum is lost.

yeah you have to be patient.

quit touching and moving it around. before you know it, you will get multiple mushrooms.
