I recently picked up a couple of mushrooms (5 days ago) and they have yet to open up. I have them at the bottom of my tank with a low current over them.

    My parameters are:
    Ammonia - 0
    Nitrite - 0
    Nitrate - ~10
    Phosphate - 0
    Calcium - 440
    Alk - 7
    ph - 8.0
    Temp - 76~78

The same day I also got some hairy mushrooms which seem to be doing good but the other ones not so well. Not sure what kind of mushrooms I got as I got them from a friend of a friend and am new to this. Just wondering if I should be more patient and leave them alone, move them to a more shaded area, or something else is wrong? Any help/suggestions would be great.

Some corals can take 3-4 days to get use to changes in water conditions or lighting. I would give it a couple more days and see how things look. I am assuming you acclimated the mushrooms? Water conditions look ok, I like to have PH around 8.2 - 8.3. What is you SG at?

Yes, I did acclimate them. My SG is 1.025. I would like to raise my PH. Any recommendation on how to do that?

Changing PH is a slow process. It could take months because you don't want to change your water drastically because your inhabitants are accustomed to it. Changing the PH can effect other parameters so make sure you do all your homework before you start anything. I know there are some buffers you can use. Honestly my current system has always been 8.2 which is probably due to my using ocean water but I had a system abot 15 years ago that I made my own salt water and had to buffer it periodically. Get good advice is my advice.;)

Aim all of your circulation pumps toward the surface and increase your alk to 10 that should boost your pH a little. Keeping it steady at 7.8 to 8.3 is key.

Your mushrooms are fine and look good. Your lighting maybe more powerful so they may not open as much.

Yea. I've been wanting to increase my Alk but not too sure how. I've researched it a bit but got confused about how it affects calcium and ph. Help? LOL.

i just got some new shrooms a week ago. Some open quickly, some don't. It really hinges on how it was fragged from whever it was before. It it was attached to a rock or a plug and you throw it in the tank, it would probably open quicker than say one that had been cut. It it was cut, it has to regrow it's "foot" and attach. Then it'll open. I'd wait.
Shrooms are pretty hard to kill.;)

Cool. I guess I will just wait. Just wanted to make sure if there was something I could do. Hopefully in the next week or so I will have a pic with them opened up
