i just got a new light for my tank and when i turned it on my mushrooms turned themselves into little teacups lol. they were fully open but they were trying to jump to the light. i didnt know if that was a good sign or if they were burning or something because theyre at the top of the tank

Hard to say, but IME you will want to move them down near the sand or they will bleach.

They are just trying to get used to the new light. The cupping is them trying to adjust themselves to accept less light.

Try to turn your lights off a little early for the next couple of days, working your way back to full hours. If after a couple of days they do not get used to it, you may have to move them farther down in the tank.

    agreed with both posts above
what kind of upgrade was it, I know you have 4 x 39 watt T5s now
what did you have them under before?

you could either move the light upwards or better still might be to lower the rock with the shrooms on towards the base of the tank

shrooms are often quoted as ideal for low/ moderate lit tanks, as they can do very well under lower lighting conditions

but they can also adjust/ adapt to much higher levels of light but they, like all corals, do need a period of adjustment to increased lighting levels IME

+1. Was this a new fixture or did you just change out the bulbs?

Me I would move them down and cut back the photoperiod. All corals in your tank probably need some time to acclimate to your new lighting.

    Congrats on the new fixture.:)
