For the past two day these mushrooms have looked like the attached pictures. These mushrooms are normally around 6 inches in diameter and waving with the water. Now they are shriveled up and what was the biggest one seems to have some grey polyps in the middle. Are they dying? I need help ASAP, I'm really worried about the rest of my tank.

    Ammonia : 0
    Calcium: 440
    Kh: 10
    Nitrate: 0
    Nitrite: 0
    Phosphate: 0
    Specific Gravity: 1.0245
    Ph: 8.4
    Temp: 77.2

The only change I have made in the last few days is to add some kalkwasser solution mixed at 2 teaspoons per one gallon and then dripped into the tank overnight. I have not detected a ph spike and every thing else in the tank looks great, feather dusters, coco worm, zoas, clam, anemone, and fish.

Have you witnessed a rise or fall of your alk?

Not much change in the alk, it did drop about 8 a week or so ago and I gradually brought it back up, and I have been working now to bring the calcium level up. But there has been nothing drastic with either.

I'd wonder about the kalkwasser addition. I have several of that type of mushroom (ric) and I don't dose kalk., my alkalinity stays around 9-10 dkh, I dose reef builder carbonate hardness powder from Seachem. I wish I could help more, hope they heal for ya.

Have you tried feeding them with a baster to see if it helps them out?

What size tank are we talking about here? A gallon of a heavily saturated kalk mix dripped overnight would have a pretty large effect on up to 125 gallons. Not sure if it says in the directions or not, but it is advised to start with a less concentrated solution. is this part of your top off? I drip kalk into a 40 gallon system at 1 tbsp / gallon and 2.5 gallons lasts me around a week.

My system is a 55 gallon with a ten gallon sump, but I didn't see a change in my ph and if I read the instructions right that would have been the only side affect to dosing the tank.

I had this same thing happen to me with my hairy mushrooms. Only one out of a 6 shroom colony survived. And that was because I moved drastically and just dumped the rock into another tank.
Back then, I wasn't doing anything for water chem. No Kalk etc just water changes so I still don't know what could have caused it.
At the time I experienced this, when I placed the shrooms into the other tanks, my urchins were all over that rock for a couple days so I assumed that something was probably eating the shrooms and the urchins took care of it but that's just an assumption.

Has anyone figured out what's going on the in the center ofthe mushroom in the first picture, up close they almost look like egg sacks or something? It's not a hole in the mushroom. Also the other shrooms and the ricordea are fine on the other side of the tank.
