So, I have green striped mushrooms, blue mushrooms and red mushrooms. All were perfectly happy as ever and then yesterday the blue and red mushrooms curled up all day. So last night I figured maybe a water change with in need (though I had done one a few days before) so I did a small water change and turned the lights out. Today they are still all shrivled up. The green striped ones and a single blue one at the bottom of the tank are doing great but it's the mushrooms near the top are the ones that aren't doing so hot. I'm gunna move them down to the bottom near the green striped ones and the single blue one and see how they fair. All of my other coral are happy as ever! The zoos, anthelia, kenya tree, green mushrooms, a single blue shroom and even the big frogspawn are great. The lighting in the tank are two 20watt 50% actinic and 50% 10,000k daylight mini compact flourescents. I've had the blue mushrooms and red ones for about 4 days now. Had been doing fantastic for those days up until last night. I'll move them to the bottom and see how they are mid day tomorrow.

It does sound like light shock from too much light near the top. Typically, mushrooms prefer lower light, but they can be acclimated to most any reef lighting if done properly, which can take several weeks moving them slowly from the bottom to where you want them. Now that they've shriveled, it may take a few days for them to fully open again, but they should recover. :)

So, I moved them down to the bottom of the tank and they opened up a little more this morning but now have shrivled back down. One of the red mushrooms even detached itself. So, you think it's light shock? The guy who had them before me had a T5 HO with 4 bulbs and I think it was about a 60-70gal cube reef and they were sitting right on the bottom. I placed them near the top in my tank because I figured my mini compact flourescents weren't as good as what he had, I guess I was wrong. should I just give them a nother couple days to adjust to the lighting? Is the lighting still too strong even down at the bottom?

True, your mini-compacts aren't as powerful as the T5s, but your tank is not nearly as deep as a 60g cube. :) Perhaps you should try to find a more shaded area to place them for now until they recoup.

I found a nice spot for them on the bottom of the tank, so hopefully they come back soon. :)
