My 10 gallon nano was getting about 82 degrees F during mid day, so I decided to construct a canopy to cool my lights down. I apologize for the lack of pics of the actual build process. But basically I used 1/4" plywood for construction. Took a day and a half and I'm proud of it. :) I got 2 80mm computer fans from staples for $8.99 each. Of course, the connection was for a computer power source, so i simply cut that off, and spliced the power and ground wires to an extra ac power adapter I had laying around. The top board is slightly warped which kinda ticks me off cause now I can't put hinges on it, but it will do for a month until I upgrade to a Red Sea Max 250! ;D

nice canopy. How loud are the fans? Is that pc lighting or T5? Looks like a Current 18" 2x18w T5s.

Thanks. It's the Current USA 18 inch with one 18 Watt SlimPaq 10K and one 18 watt 460nm Actinic Blue T5 HO fluorescent lamp. The fans don't bother me. They aren't much louder than than my air pump for my skimmer. It's just a slight hum in the background.

Well, the canopy sure does keep the tank cooler. But now I have to top off more frequently.

I have the same t5 lights. the color of the bulb sucks but its a decent fixture. puts off a lot of light for the low wattage and compact size. You have inspired me to make a canopy for my 10gallon! I'm already in the process of making one for my 72bow and I could probably whip this up with the scraps from that project.
