I received this light by mistake. I was planning on picking one up when I do my 10g freshwater planted tank.

I am using Nutrafin Cycle. It's beast every time I have used it. I used it to power my 55g Freshwater thought a cycle(btw it also works on both fresh and salt water) and I thought I would give it a shot on my 10g and I have been very happy so far.

No live rock. I think 2 weeks 5 days in to cycle, mind you I only dosed bacteria 5 days ago. First sign of life.

The irony is that when I saw mine it reminded me of your post. It's kinda cool now, it's the first little bit of color I've had in the tank so far. Nothing but dry rock and live sand makes for a very bland bright empty tank in the beginning.

The only part that saddens me is that I still can't put anything in the tank because my params are so far out of whack it would stress and probably end up killing anything in the tank. Except ... apparently algae. Maybe I could look in to getting some chaeto soon and see how it goes. I have nitrates so I'm sure it has plenty to eat.

Last weekend I tested my parameters and they were a bit off but still...

    PH 8.0
    Ammonia 0 ppm
    Nitrite 5.0-4.0 ppm
Nitrates I didn't test because of Nitrites being so far off, I figured there was no point in wasting the test.

This was last Friday, So, I think sometime tonight or tomorrow I will test again and see how it is all going for sure. I'm hoping the nitrites will come down soon so I can focus on getting my chaeto in the tank and get me some pods going :)
