Been cycling for a few days now and we just love it. Granted nothing is in it but just getting it up was an accomplishment in itself.

I seeded this tank with a cured piece of live rock and a cup of sand from my already established tank. This should be enough correct or do I need more???????

    Thanks

Well its not a matter of if. Its a matter of when. That is enough to seed itself but the more you put in to seed it the faster it will cycle an spread coraline.

I have about 40 lbs more in my establish tank that I plan to move over when the cycling is done. I know it doesnt look like much but that is about 120 lbs of liverock.

not to disagree with banthonyb71, but as an LFS employee, the rule is a pound per gallon... I agree and disagree, I say get enought to build a display that your happy with. there are other places in ur water volume that you can add LR to, to use as filtration.
and I tell my people this. some may think its wrong but imo its both economical and you can still get the look your gunning for. Great job on the aqua scaping as well. tank looks deep, you may wana look into more lighting in the future for more light penetration

thats what its about. before i worked in the industry i was led astray an aweful lot. so now I do all I can to help people get more for their money. It may be a lil counter productive to the biz i work for but the people continue to come back and spend with us cuz we keep it real.

Looks great and you got some good places for the fish to hide out whenever the need arises. What type of lighting do you have?

i dont disagree with you guys. My take on the live rock was more from a visual perspective rather than a biological perspective.

I love the tanks that have corals covering most of thr back wall. this gives for a more natural display and brings your eyes and imagination more into the actual feel of a real living reef. Aquascaping looks great though I just thought a little bit higher maybe with the rock will cover up some of the back of the tank. Just a thought. Sorry if it sounded like I was trying to critisise tanks really will look good either way.

i dnt think anyone took what u said outa context. I do see where your coming from which is why i suggested maybe stepping up his lighting in the future for added light penetration
