Just wanted to post some pics because I know everyone will tell me what I'm doing wrong or if I'm on the right path. As this is a complete tear down/re-cycle of my tank I want to at least post here from the start so I don't make new mistakes (after learning from many of my own last go-round) I am using a method suggested by another member to get my rock cleaned.

    Scrub Rock
    Soak 50/50 bleach/water for a few days
    Soak RO/DI water few days
Soak Baking soda/RO/DI water few days
    Let dry for a while

Step one was removing rock from tank/scrubbing. As you can see by the water in the bucket I was able to remove a lot of nasty stuff from it.

I just have it sitting in the water I siphoned from the tank until I get bleach this week and make enough RO/DI water to nuke it. While I'm waiting for that I think I'm going to remove the rest of the water from the tank and clean all the equipment. Also have to get rid of the sand because it is disgusting.

Everything sounds good as far as your cleaning/nuking process. what were you planning on using for cleaning the equipment?

RO/DI water and some muscle... is there a better way to go about that?

use a 50 50 mix of RO/DI and Vinegar. leave it soaking for about 24 hours, and everything will easily scrub right off.

Nice, I forgot that vinegar breaks down that mineral deposit. Thanks for the tip!
