Well today was the day. My 125 tall arrived to its new home. I picked it up as it was being taken out of a Hospital because it leaked in one corner. Cost: $100.00 :) I have resealed many tanks so this was a great buy for me.....

This is going to be done over the next 2-3 months.

We are building the stand today and I will take pics of the tank and stand to post later.

I plan on trying to drill the back of tank instead of using an overflow box.

    Other plans are:
    Two 120w LED light kits
    55 gallon sump with fuge
    Wavemaker

Other items are still up in the air as far as spec'd out -

Pretty excited, its been a few years since I built one... wife said it is time to do another she misses our old reef tank.

Nice. That is a great score with your experience. I'd love to see pics of the reseal and drill out. Congrats!

Ok so we built the stand, pics here in a bit - I wanted to use a 55 but the height clearance is going to keep me from doing it - if I use a 55 only will have a few inches between the tanks to plumb - So I am asking - what are your opinions on using a 40 long/breeder for a sump - 36 3/16 x 18 1/4 x 16 15/16 this would give me plenty of clearance for plumbing and electrical.....

    48 1/4 x 12 3/4 x 19 - this is a 45 - if I sat it down in between the bottom side "joist" would give me about 8" room to plumb -
    What do you guys think?

I used a 40b for my 125 and I'm happy , plenty or room to move above and don't have to put skimmer on stand because water level is just right.

I use a 50G Rubbermaid 'Roughneck' for my sump on my 125. I use smaller containers inside of it for my skimmer compartment, a strainer basket for my chaeto, etc.

You don't have to be locked in to a 'tank''s sizes to use as a sump. I think it's in my short DT vid in my sig. I actually got that large bin in my stand while the DT was running, water and livestock in it. Plastic can bend thru the doors, etc.

    Nice job on your build.

It doesn't really matter what you use for your sump. Mostly the sump, as you already know, will just add more water volume to your system and house your unsightly equipment. So that being said, the bigger the better. I look forward to seeing this tank progress.

Thanks guys - ordering the overflow kit next week from Glass-holes.com - going to drill it for center with a return on each end... Like I said this initially will be a slow build unless I come into some extra money LOL :) Hoping to seal it up tomorrow, part of the leaking issue is in one corner there is a 13" piece of the bottom frame missing any bonding agent, so we are going to pull it open slightly and use a needle/syringe to inject the silicone back into that area to secure the outter side from the leak happening again. Once that is cured then I will reseal the inside, let sit and water test. HOPE to water test Saturday (in the garage of course) -
