Wow, and some people think *I* am wound tight.

rod I don't think he was trying to be as negative as you made it out to be. Simmer down before immediately attacking people who are trying to help. As for the warranty...meh...it's your choice and as long as it's braced somehow then that's cool.

The damsels though, at the risk of you flaming me, too, really just aren't a good idea. With the exception of chromis damsels, in my experience anyways, damsels in general are just mean. Once they have established a tank as "theirs" they will tend to attack anything you go to add in the future, and not just like-species (like most other saltwater fish).

A good story/example is one that *I* had to go through. Years ago when I had my 46 gallon I had a velvet damsel in there for about 3 years. That fish went in there after my royal gramma and GSM. So for the 3 years I had it, it was just those 3 fish because I was more focused on corals. Well down the road I added a mandarin. Not only did this damsel get ugly and black (as most damsels do when they get bigger, they lose their juvenile characteristics, the neon stripes in this case), but he went APE BANANAS over this fish! He attacked the crap out of it and I had to rip my tank apart to get it out because I was fed up.

Dude that fish was attacking the mandarin AS I WAS TAKING OUT ROCKS to get him. I mean, really?? LOL it was absolutely horrifying and the whole ordeal was enough for me to declare any and all damsels entirely useless. And like I said, most saltwater fish only attack like-species. Tangs attack tangs, clowns attack clowns, etc.

Not damsels, though, they go after anything. Just something to keep in mind.

I am aware of this, and dont mean to attack anyone but if you read through this thread, ive heard enough about lights and tank braces to make anyone pull there hair out. I am not wound tight at all, as you can ask a few on here. Anyhow, im aware about the problems with damsels. i will be removing the 4 of them once i get other fish. I will then put them in there own tank untill i get a few more fish in there. After the other fish are added, I will put the damsels back in the tank and from what i have read shoudl cure them thinking the tank is "there own"

So do all my fish. I would never be able to catch any of them, though, without a trap or taking out the rocks. They're stunningly fast.

Judging from his pics - it's already in there. No sense in talking him out of it

I for one like the idea of using damsels. I used two. They survived my cycle but weren't strong enough to survive 3 days without power during the Hurricane last year that happened a couple months later. Mine didn't seem to really bother the clowns I had either.

I can't imagine having sat through my cycle without having them to watch...

If yours survive... they probably will surprise you on how hard they are to catch... time will tell, eh? ;)

    happy fishing ..:)

well put herbie style overflows in today and holy cow are they silent!!!! I put cones on top of them so in order for them to get plugged, they would have to completelly cover the cone, so I feel pretty safe without having a emergency overflow. Not to mention i check them about every day.
