What return pump..or pumps are you using ?? I have 2 Quiet One 3000's for my return and one Quiet One 2000 for the fuge feed ......I just started mine 125 up 2 days ago....and I don't think the 2 3000's are sufficient ? They are rated at 760 gph...but with 3 foot of head ...its more like 600 gph.

headed to go get the lights I bought off ebay today ! finally found a good deal!!

+1 for the build ! looking great !!

hey pal, i just added you to my messenger list when you get the chance to approve it. Ive got 2 pumps down there, both from catalina aquariums (CA). one is a 2200 and the other is a 5000. 2200 is rated at 850 gph and the 5000 is rated at 1400 gph. As far as im concerned ive got about 3 feet of hose off each one, but I really dont think i loose much as far as flow goes.

Cool Rock man. I've learned alot about rock lately. If you are adding more rock then I'd add it to the sump. If you add too much to the DT then you'll have too many spots for detritus to build up in and is only a tank crash waiting to happen. I believe the RC tank of the month mentions this problem with his old tank. GL and everything is looking great!

well guys here is the pics of yet another setup. Its modeled sort of after a picture coral reefer posted up in another thread of mine. I really liked that layout, and did the best with what I had. Its the 2 island theme, I like it abit better then the first. Ill order more rock when the money allows and build them out further towards the glass in tiers if you will.

You probably also notice that the returns are now in the center instead of on the outside like before. I used the returns that come in the over flows as my emergency overflows for the herbie system. So I plumbed these up the center back of the tank and they are working wonderfully. Ive also got a powerhead stuck behind that far left island, with a piece of flat rock on top of it as a shelf. Trying to make sure ive got plenty of places for corals/frags/etc. Anyhow, the 2 white 90's are kind of ugly right now, but hopefully i can get coraline to grow on them and they will then blend right in.

ok, ammonia has dropped to 0, YIPPY!!!!!! Nitrites have dropped to .5 from 1.0 and nitrates have dropped to 10 ppm from 40. I think this is a good step in the right direction! I also got my refractometer today! Wow, these things are super cool and way easy to use! Best 30.00 ive spent yet.

Ok, just checked water again today, PH is 7.8, Ammonia is still at 0, Nitrites are not purple enough to be .25 but not light enough blue to be 0. Nitrates are at 20 ppm. The diatoms are all but gone and im hoping the nitrites fall down to 0 here in a few days. Ive got my eye on 5 green chromis and a nice naso tang at the local pet store and he is cheap!! 19.99. Hoping the water falls here soon so i can add the chromis and then hoping the naso is still there in a few weeks.

Well guys, been a few days since I updated. The tank has been at 0 for the last few days. I just purchased a fluval 305 tonight (yes, I know its only good for 70 gallons, but guess whats in it?? its full of carbon and nothing else. I basically wanted it for water clarity) I also purchased some chaeto and ulva from reefcleaners.org to go in the 16 x 14 x 14 refugium im currently making at work, along with a nice cleanup crew! I am planning on letting one of the emergency overflows to feed the refugium and let it overspill into the sump. I also ordered a few things to make myself an auto top off. I will post pictures here in a few days.
