Im hoping to get the Sand by next week as well.

im only 4 days apart from getting my sand for the tank YUP YUP. and only 1 week apart from getting my rock...

    i cant wait.

although i do have one question. i do not have a source of ro/di water so i usually just use the filter for the water that we have. ( for us to drink) but this is a 150G so i cant just use that, it will take forever. and cost a lot of $$
so can i use tap water, and then just add PRIME to make the water good for my fishies?

I wouldn't use tap your best bet is to buy an ro/di andsave yourself alot of headache down the road, don't forget with a larger tank your going to have more evap too.

Welcome to the 150 club. I would definitely suggest investing in a RODI unit first! With a 150, you are gonna be going through a good amount of water. My tank goes through about 1.5 gallons of top off water a day. I bought a cheaper unit off of Ebay for like $80. I ditched the horizontal DI it came with and added the vertical style with the refillable resin. I bought a 60 gallon barrel to keep water stored. Works great. I look forward to your progress

This can work and probably would be fine for a FOWLR. Some people's tap water isn't that bad, then again some people's tap water is really bad. However, keep in mind there are some serious negatives to doing this. You will get many more algae blooms or have algae problems, also various compounds can build up as you are not replacing the tap water with anything better when you do water changes. You can get a pretty good setup for about $120. It's really worth it in the long run, especially with having to buy Prime or an equivalent every so often, with a 150, it will probably be more often then you think. I started with tap and regreted it immediately. I had some bad cyno that covered all of my rocks. It looked terrible. I bought my setup from airwaterice.com and got a good deal.
