my 18 gallon fish only project, lit by the sun only???

well how come so many people have regular house bulbs over there sumps and fuges? i plan on keeping them way up at the top, like right under the surface.

 

really it depends on how deep the cheato is placed i the tank.if its right under the light you could get away with 2-3 wpg which i believe is two flourest bulbs.

 

it wont take off. but it should stay healthy. i kept mine under one 24 watt pc bulb while it was in 5 gallon bucket, the light was raised pretty high becuase i had mangroves

I had a plant light over mine in a clip on desk lamp and the chaeto seems to have shrunk since I got it...hasn't grown at all, also if you lift it up the underneath is a lot lighter than the top.........I just changed it out last week with my old 36" 2x96pc's so maybe it'll have a chance now....we'll see.

 

where do you get plant lights? any links you can provide?

 

i always got the bulbs from petsmart. but if you want the whole fixture try ebay.

 

I got mine from the local grocery store. I found after a job we did my oldest had taken it out of the fixture and had it hanging on another plant:-/ species, was doing really nice too, but we made him get rid of it fast! into the burn pit(bon fires and such) it went.......... LOL

 

i wouldnt plan on getting halides...ever!
