Outstanding craftsmanship!! Love the progress so far. I really enjoy woodworking as well and built quite a bit of the furniture around my house but have no where the skills or knowledge to build what you have. Good luck with the rest of the build it looks like its going to be amazing!! Subscribed

Thanks Ryan.....I wouldn't exactly call myself an "expert", but I'm making headway, although I've done a fair share of research before diving in. I also found a liking with wood work, and this is by far to date the largest project I've ever taken on. Toughest part for me was trying to figure out how much material to buy ahead of time. I hate taking twenty trips to the hardware store cause I forgot this or that. So far everything is good.

The tank is up on the stand finally. Took 4 of us to lift it, but that turned out being the easy part. Apparently,... when I measured the distance from the top of the stand to the bottom of the canopy cabinet, I neglected to take into account the the extra 1/4 inch of plastic the on the top and bottom of the tank for the frame. I was supposed to have a half inch clearance, but ended up having to carve a 1/4" off the canopy. It's actually a tighter fit than I had planned for, so now it fits tighter and has less wiggle room, so +1 I suppose.

(Note, yes a 180g is 24x72. Don't forget to add in the frame measurements when doing your math)

    You're doing an outstanding job.

I like what you did with the cabinet doors.

Thanks a lot for the compliments. There's a lot of work left so I'll wait until I've got larger updates between posts.
Snook buddy, I think the name change is a long shot. In fact, my tank has been a reef since just over 6 months old and I'm almost 2 years into this hobby, so my bads for picking a very specific name as I did, lol . I guess I could always rebuild a new one, but then I'd be "that guy" and Noooooobody wants to be "that guy"....lol.

Oh, and by the way, we've come to a compromise with the Sump room. (There was a lot of drinking involved, but I think I came out ahead) I can have the shower, but I have to stain and clear the back porch AND, I have to Finish painting the rest of the house (not just the front ;D). All in all I think it's fair. I can't go and build this nice tank and have the rest of the house looking like crap can I? ::)

    Now, as promised, new updates.......

I took some advise from early on and moved my ceiling fan....

Now I have some cabinet door room......

    after.....

I've started on my electronic storage, and my ladder hide away (cause I'm 5'7 and the top of my tank is higher than I am)

And I'm on my way to building my DIY back wall and live rock.
