I have a 15" high canopy so I used the heght to put in a sliding shelf. Each retrofit was about 12" wide so I bought two 1x4 pieces of strong hard oak wood. By doing it this way the retrofits and ballasts would have air circulation. I used three 12" pieces and screwed them vertically to the assembly for added strength.

The combo of bulbs were highly suggested by the Grim Reefer at reefcentral.com because I wanted to carry all kinds of corals and have a more deep sea look. For the 8 bulbs on the fixture I purchased new bulbs from reefgeek.com. They are in order front to back:
    ATI blue plus (450 nm)
    GE 6500K Daylight
    UVL 75/25 14K
    ATI blue plus
    UVL Aquasun (pink 10K)
    ATI Blue plus
    ATI Aquablue 12K
    ATI blue plus
That's what I have. The bulbs I have now for 14 months and still goes strong.
