Ok. I am in a dilemma and need someone's advice. I want to use black sand for my new setup and I can't find the right one. I am not a true fan for the coral ruble in the sand if I can avoid it. Does anyone have any suggestion on the the smoothest sand available thats not to small that will keep my tank cloudy?

Wow This is going to be a sweet build! :) I've subscribed to your thread.

Great deal on those lights btw! How did you find such a deal?

I got the dart motor and sump from a dude who was selling his tank. He had no offers so I told him if no one takes the lights I will. The only thing is he has these old school ballasts that stay cool. They are about the size of a toaster but if it ain't broke don't fix it. A little secret for everyone. I just got a deal on an LED lighting system for my tank for 1300 dollars free shipping. I am seriously considering that offer. What is your take on that peeps?

Could you use "Mineral Mud", like some people use in their fuges? it is kinda pricey though. :-/ just an idea.

That's cool you were able to get a good price.

Well for a reef I wouldn't really suggest LEDs. They, alone can't really put out enough par to support a reef. Maybe someone else will help you with this question.

The par rating for this system is equal to a 400W MH.

Well PAR & wattage aren't the same thing. But it the PAR is in equivalent, then I would say go ahead. But, you can get those MH for so cheap already. Depending on how long you have this tank up for, for that price, in the long run I think the cost of the two setups(lighting) would be pretty close.

I'm not sure I want to know your electricity bill though with the haildes. haha :p

I am taking your advice and going with the 400WMHs. My 125 has 3 150MH on it now and my bill was 200.
