3x400's in a 30" tall tank? what spectrum? you will get a faster growth with something closer to 10K and then supplement with actinics for the color you want in my opinion. I am running 14k's on the ends and a 10K in the middle. while it is much whiter, I can actually see some noticeable growth in a Millipora vs not so much in some others so far.
Im doing the different spectrums to really see which I like more. I like the color of the 14k's but the 10k's seem to have a better growth.

you have plenty of light there.

They are 12K. I am going to get my water tested soon so I know where my true parameters are and so I know I will have a starting point and go from there. Now my neon monti has white spots now.

    Inadvertant Water Change

What do you call it when you wake up at 7am and you hear pumps running dry? A protein skimmer that lost its mind and flooded my floor and a water change. So now I have to get a new protein skimmer. I brought an impeller thinking that would fix the problem but it eventually came back and haunted me.

    ASM or Reef Octopus??

Sorry for your troubles. cant speak to the others but I am very happy with my octo extreme 160. I know you will need a bigger one but I have been running mine about 1 1/2yrs with no problems so far.

My Reef Creations - Best Protein skimmers, reactors, and custom saltwater reef equipment. - My Reef Creations

they are beckett driven and require a pretty good sized pump to run them. the needlewheel ones are the rage now cause they require a smaller pump with less wattage. that said, I have a massive main pump that is capable of running a 1" pipe wide open to the skimmer. im guessing I have close to 1000gph thru my skimmer at pressure. I dont have to have an extra pump to run mine cause of that. lots of folks seem to like the octopus skimmers.

    Leopard Wrasse

As of today, all the Leopard Wrasses died. Tested my QT tank and all parameters are zero except for nitrates which are around 10. I think I should have put them in the fuge and let them do the pods until they got bigger and healthier. Don't know if I am going to do those type again or get them bigger.
