Ok the first pic i ever posted was back in 2009... So the phosban reactor was filled with eather phosphate media to pull out of course phosphates.. wich cynoa loves to grow with.. Or i had it filled with carbon to keep the h2o nice and clear.. i runn both throught because it's a universal tool to fill with media of your choice to pull out what ever chem levels are up and are in need of lowering....

Skimmer.... now thats realy up to you on a small tank, if you do a water change weekly to me really no need for one pending the amount of water being changed on a nano..( i am sure others have other fealings on it)
But i do runn a reef octopuss 100 back hang skimmer and within a hour pulled a dark nasty green skimmate out of the tank.. I was using the bio cubes little skimmer but that was a waste to me of $$ and time. but if it works for you great...

Chiller i runn a Mini Artica 1/15 chiller .. i live in north east ohio and tends to get warm along with i am running a 150 HQI MH for light and tank temps tend to get up in the upper 80's without the chiller because of lighting and high temps outside....

Coral vite is a good chem to dose, but as in time pending your coral loads (meaning what nutrients your corals absorb) your dosing maybe more.. Along with the addtion of calcium and other assoted chems..
keep in mind these are my crusty $.02

    I hope this helps....

    Best of luck...

Ty salsalito for the information. Still a little confused on phos reactors -- I have some macro algae that I remove every two weeks or so and so far that is the only way I know how to remove phosphates from my system. I would need to dig up more information and maybe get a more in depth explanation about what they do, and how I can add one to my system. Most of the LFS in my area do not sell stuff for such a small system (29g) but having something like that on the back of my tank imo would ease my nerves a lot more as to the overall health and quality of my h2o and my tank

    thank you much..

What do i dose..?? Really nothing.. i use reef crystal salt mix. Water changes every 2 weeks about 3-4 gals at a time. I do dose Seachem reef calcium thats really all i add after testing water to see if i need it or not. I try my hardest not to stick my hand in the tank. If its not broke i dont try and mess with it to much unless i get a upgrade..
I forgot to mention i wa using Bionic 2 part Ca. With that additive for ca i noticed i grew a great amount of coriline algae on everything. For some reefers they like the look .. I'm sorry i do not i found with Seachem ca for what ever reason i only grow a little bit over time verus alot with the other ca additive.

Thanks again for the kind words..

    Happy reefing.. !!
