Yeah it is a pico . I have had this running for about 8 months. I do have a monti digitata and monti plate for about six months , with significant growth besides being browned out of corse. I am looking into getting a new light soon to color things up a bit. Just worried about things growing to fast though lol! Not whole lotta room.:-[

I do 2 liter water changes about every 5 days to prevent any nitrate build up and to prevent from having to dose anything. Not a whole lotta water voulume to mix chemicals in.

For 35 bucks you really can't beat it. The price is right and it does the job good. You using this on your 5 gallon?

Sorry, didnt see your post. Im actually making a false back wall on the twenty and it will have a Refugium, bioball tower, and pad in the back. Wa thinking since its the only skimmer i caould really fit in like 2 and 1/2 inches of intank space since its HOB ;)

That sounds awesome. I wanted to make a bigger tank and do the same thing. Have the sump and fuge all incorparated in tank. You know a diy biocube. I almost (crazy as it sounds) want to start a new pico and drill it , having it overflow into a 20 long diy sump and fuge. I am eccentric I know. Just have way to much fun with this little tank.:-[ lol! :builder2:
