You can see a live feed of me filling my tank and curing live rock. I'll try to stream during the day, while I'm at work.

I'll also be uploading many pictures and regular updates to this thread.

The tank info is on that page.

I've learned a lot from reading all of your posts, I'm sure you will all guide me to success, or at least help me dodge a catastrophe.

The tank stream is back up. Not much going on, just rock waiting to come alive. It's nice to have it while I'm at work, though.

I have about 2-3 gallons to fill, then it will be completely filled for the first time!

    Thanks for watching.

So, I said I would post pictures and start with updates...

The tank is full, the skimmer/fuge is running and it's the very first day of my very first saltwater build.

We began filling the tank after I got home at around 9PM.

So, naturally our little snowpoof had a long day of relaxing and was approaching his time to lay on someones lap and take a nice long kitty nap. Unfortunately, there were no laps available, so he had to hang out until we were done.

    The tank filling...

The center brace modification I did, so the light loving corals won't have to endure a nasty shadow cast upon them. It's about half inch thick acrylic, with nylon bolts. VERY strong, at least 10x stronger than the original brace. I know this is an issue with some people who have a center brace and don't know what to do, or it broke and they have to fix it. I highly recommend getting some acrylic, nylon bolts (@ home depot) and doing it yourself, it isn't hard at all. Just make sure the tank is completely empty, of course.

    No laps available!

After a long night of drip drop from the RO, and a lot of snowpuff yawns... Alas, a filled tank.

The rock took a while to get to me (6 days to be exact) but it looks like there are a few little gooey bits still alive. It didn't smell too bad and i cycled it in the buckets first, especially to get rid of all of the styrofoam clinging to it from the packaging (which had holes poked in it and was extremely filthy.... Fedex, don't use um...).

Anyways, thanks for reading/viewing. I will keep this updated as much as I can.

Again, my tank can be viewed live streaming @ Setting Up A Saltwater Aquarium! on Justin.tv

My name actually isn't justin. That's the website I host a live video feed of my aquarium- Justin.tv - Live Video and Chat for Everyone

All my tank info is on the page I linked on my first post. I have a 250w MH. My stock list will be; two ocellaris, possibly two firefish (although I'm worried about keeping those at first because they aren't as hardy) 3-4 nassarius snails, a sea hare, or lettuce sea slug. Various Euphylia, and hopefully a BTA.

    Something like this:

    Thanks!

Yes, he's a Turkish Angora and he's the type of cat who just NEEDS your lap and petting. He's our little prize snowpoof and he has about a million names. Just the cutest thing you've ever witnessed.

Anyways, on to the tank. I used purple tech and did the aquascape, as well as added 2 gallons of saltwater.

    My salinity reads 1.024
    My temp reads 78

I'm not testing for anything else right now, as I know it's just a matter of patience and I'll know it's ready when I either see a great deal of purple, green and pink, or see a bunch of green algae.

Now, I have what seems to be my first dilemma. I did not realize there was a packet of clarifier in the bag of sand. It's now in my tank I'm guessing, as I poured the sand right in. Is this dangerous for my tank? What exactly should I do? Dig around for it?

    Thanks
