I scooped a few cups of sand out and put it in the fuge, in doing so, I found the packet of clarifier that came with the sand!

Now, I'm not sure what this is, dieoff, a dead sponge, mold??

And here is my skimmer, working well.

Thanks to anyone who can identify the mystery fuzz on my rock. Sorry if the pictures aren't revealing enough.

So, just to update everyone. I had some cyano, that was the mystery fuzz.

I did a water change, sucking most of the cyano off the rocks, then I've been keeping my MH off until it seems to have gone completely. Which looks like tonight/tomorrow.

Another thing to mention, my skimmer tube broke and I replaced it very fast with a length of tube cut from my cyphon hose. Before my cyano bloom, there was some great coraline growth on the rocks. It seems to have died out a little bit, I'm sure it will be back when I turn the lights back on.

Your tank looks great. Is it a topless or do you have a top? I saw you had a firefish posted before that was maybe a fish you were looking at getting? They can be jumpers, so that is why I am curious.

I'm sure your cat loves it too.... things to look at and "play" with while you are working :)

So far they haven't shown much interest. They will probably start when I get something to follow in there. Also, my tank is in my den, so I shut the door when I'm gone. 8)

Yeah, I was worried about that as well, in general, but I was ensured that it wouldn't be a problem to go without a top.

I was thinking about making my own out of acrylic, it wouldn't be hard.

Heh, I'm trying. I'll be broadcasting soon, I have 2 large nassarius snails and about 200 unidentified baby snails on my glass! The algae bloom is here and everything is on target! Soon, FISH!:cheesy:

Congrats on the aquascape... love it!! Don't worry too much... just let the tank cycle for about a month or two. I actually went the safe way and waited for 5 months before I added any lifestock. Happy for you :)

Are you doing a reactor? I would strongly reccomend a phosban reactor (two little fishes) or a GFO/carbon reactor combo, to keep your water chrystal clear and phosphate low to keep that algae in check. Are you doing a skimmer also?

Yes, I have a skimmer/fuge, it picks up about 1/10th a cup of skimmate everyday. No, I didn't plan on stocking it with any fish as of yet. I was told to take it slow and I have no problem with that. there are tiny (1/8") algae on the DT glass, amongst the scattered baby snails and pods. So far it doesn't seem to be a big problem and I have a healthy amount of algae in the fuge, growing everyday. I've been doing 25% water changes every week, to two weeks.

I was wondering, is there any way to judge how many baby snails will survive and mature? Half, less? Any way to help them out?

Thanks for the replies and kind words:)

More pictures up in a few minutes!
