I am posting this for anyone to chime in on and for just people to look at my progress, it will be few months before everything is purchased and up and running. I figured this is the best forum to read so I figured that I would start to share my experience here.

This the the shopping list that I have come up with as of now, if anyone has any tip or anything you see that I should change let me know.

    Thanks
    Walter

are you planning on putting the koralia's on the wavemaker? I have heard they don't work so great on wavemakers, sometimes they start in reverse and can't handle the pulsing. The motors eventually burn up. For that price I would check out the vortech MP20, or get the controllable koralia's with one of their control modules.

Also That light is probably going to heat up that aquarium really quick, fast, and in a hurry. I would give consideration to a small chiller, if you decide not to go with the chiller you are going to need a good amount of fans. With the Fans comes increased evap, which means an ATO is very useful.

The last thing I can think of would be live rock. I would suggest 40-50 lbs. Not exactly equipment unless you call it your "filter," which technically it is.

With that said, seems like you really have done your homework. This sounds like it is going to be a clean setup, with very little to upgrade in the future. Can't wait to see the pics once you get it running.

instead of 2 koralia 3s, I would recommend 2 koralia 2s instead.. i myself also own a 40G breeder aquarium and it is the best available not so big start up aquarium, the dimensions speak for itself and the 16" height is so good for gas exchange and light penetration..
a few things IMO i would change..

    2 koralia 2s instead of koralia 3s
the wave maker to go with the koralias are IMO not very necessary
the aquac remora skimmer is a very good choice
uv sterilizer in MY opinion is not very necessary.. you can have a refugium in your sump and have some chaeto in there to absorb the phosphate etc to help prevent algae outbreaks..
you can consider running chemi pure elite as that will help with preventing algae outbreaks as well

personally i am using indo live rock, i have about 65 pounds in my 40G breeder, go for more surface area rather than weight and you should be off to a very good start, happy reefing!

p.s. if you are doing a reef tank, defnitely go for the koralia 2s, if you are doing fish only with live rock, then those koralia 3s are fine.. those koralia 3s will be too strong and hard on the corals if you are doing reef tank

The chiller I was definitely flipping a coin on but after doing some more research I definitely think it is going to be necessary. Just to help keep the tank more temp stable.

I do plan on doing some kind of diy autotop off system at a later date.

Any Suggestions on chiller(ie. brand, size).

It is going to be a reef set-up. I think I will leave the wavemaker out for now. I have seen many set-ups with out wavemakers and they seem to do just fine.

So I won't need the U.V Sterilizer? I haven't fully researched the pros and cons for U.V Sterilzer's. So I will take a look around.

Thanks everyone for the input its definitely appreciated.

Just as an FYI I am also getting an RO/DI unti off of ebay

Had one once worked great until I left it out in the garage in the winter ooooppps. When water freezes watch out for that plastic to just explode. Overall lesson learned it will be in basement now..
