    Personally, I would keep the sand so it can establish some living stuff in it. Depending on what corals you are going to keep you may need the additional flow from the powerhead as well.

    I like the bottom 3 pics for your scape.

    i plan on having this hard coral dominant so the extra flow is really important, also an extra filter wouldnt do much the filter i have already is pretty unnecessary i do water changes twice a week on this little tank.

    the powerhead does sometimes make waves in the sand but i think its natural looking and i never plan to go barebottom. i just hate the look of barebottom tanks.

    i think im going to set aside a day to just set up a rockscape because i am not very pleased with either really.
    i really need to put much more time and thought into it. ill take pics and post them up the second i get a better scape in the tank.

    what do you believe is the most effective way to keep them stable? i usually drill them then put pegs into them. but a friend of mine said he uses pvc pipe and his tank looks great, thoughts?

    I think drilling them and using pegs is a good way. You could try using zip ties as well or some type of coral glue/bonding agent.

    i redid the rockscape, i like it alot better, but its not spectacular. i used about 5 pounds in the nano and the rest i used in my 10 gallon seahorse tank im setting up. nothing in it yet though.

    heres the redo of the rockscape, i dont really like it but it will have to do as i have put alot of the other rock in my 10 gallon tank, i plan on making that sort of a seahorse reef tank type deal. so here it is.

    idk, i really like the minimalist aquascape look, its really appealing imo.
