Time for some more pics! I decided to paint the stand, as the finish was in poor shape. Also installed some receptacles, 1 of which is a combination switch/receptacle that will allow me to more easily turn off the powerheads at feeding time. In the future, I plan on purchasing a Wavemaster Pro, but the switch will do 'til then. Also, on the receptacle that feeds power to the in-stand outlets, I installed a cover designed for outdoor use.

    Very nice!

Never can have enough power outlets.

You might want to consider sealing both used and unused outlets with some Duct Seal to prevent water/salt damage...

I have every outlet within 15 feet of tank sealed up with the stuff.

Cheap insurance...like $1.50 for a 1lb brick of the stuff at Home Depot.

    Just a thought.

Rock finally came in a few months ago, and I got around to filling her up a couple of days ago! Sorry for the crappy phone camera pics.

I am on the market for some lighting for my 55gal 48 inches long. Do you think the 2-250 halides is a bit much? I am looking into the same 250s but am afraid of the heat factor? Whats is your overall opinion on the 2-250s?

Thanks, I'll try to take some more/better pics Monday.

I haven't built the canopy, but I'm not afraid of the heat. There will be a 3.5-4" opening all across the back between the back rim of the tank and the canopy. Also, I plan to install a large PC fan at either end of the canopy.

It's OK, as long as you allow sufficient time for the paint to cure. With proper surface prep and multiple coats, it should be fairly durable.

    Thank ye kindly!
