After a few weeks of tweaking my Kalk mixture, i think i finally have it right on. The last week worth of alk tests have it steady between 9.6-9.9 hasn't deviated from those numbers. I can't confirm for calcium since i ran out of reagents and am waiting for my new test kit.

All my corals which were doing poorly, due to the equipment malfunctions in November and December, are doing very well. I am getting some color back and polyp extension is coming back as well.

Did a WC today and will get some photos tomorrow when everything settles and i have more time.

    Current parameters...
    Salinity 1.025
    Alk 9.8 dKH
    Cal 430 mg/L
    Mag 1480 mg/L
    NO3 0.1 mg/L
    PO4 undetectable with Salifert
    pH 8.5
    Temp 76

Seems I have the Kalk dialed in perfectly right now, Calcium is not trying to run away on me anymore. My SPS coral are all starting to look a lot healthier colorwise and PE wise. Most of my newer frags are encrusting and one piece which bleached out under my old t5s is glowing under actinic again.

It seems every time I get one thing fixed something else craps out on my. All new filters for RO/DI, return pump dies. Return pump replaced, alk dropping too fast. Kalk dialed in, heater stops working. Heater replaced, what will be next. Hopefully I will catch it quick so no real damage is done. Atleast I was one step ahead of the heater problem since it was 1 or 2 heaters in my tank.

Other than the heater event, I have just been letting it grow. With all the problems I ran into near the end of 2014, I haven't really seen much growth so I am pretty pleased to see the little amount of growth i have now.

Maybe one day I will be able to take some pictures which don't look awful. Not a whole lot to look at other than some recovering frags.

Also I was getting very close to having the money I needed to buy a controller which I have decided will be my next purchase but had a blowout at midnight on my way home from work last week and had to use some of my controller money to buy a new tire. I will get there though, it will just take longer.

It is a dry heat, yeah right !
    Slow and steady they say.

Tires are much more important, glad you're ok.

    Chemistry looks great.

We tend to be more critical of our own tanks than other people viewing them. It will come around.

You sound like you get your luck from the same tree I do, get one thing right, then then next thing goes and then on top of that, gotta buy a stupid new tire!

Good to hear about your numbers! and more importantly your SPS!

    I agree with this, 100%

I am doing my best with the slow and steady, it seems to be working. And yes. we do!

Thank you, I really am pleased with the progress in my tank at this point. Hopefully before i get anymore of our "luck" I will have the controller to help me catch it.

So my coral frags aren't all that impressive but I am seeing some growth finally. These pictures are not the greatest and i think I must have Parkinson's or something since i apparently shake so much when i have a camera in my hands that nothing comes out not blurred. So these pictures are more of a reference for me so I can compare them next month and for some reason the first picture here I cannot get a decent picture of to save my life and this is the one i am needing an ID of.
