I am feeding Acropower and Rod's about twice a week with the Acro and once with the Rod's. I only have the 2 mocha clowns and a LM blenny with the blood red and skunk shrimp.

Most of the frags I got from Civic but have gotten a few from online and LFSs. Some of these frags have been in the tank for 9 months and haven't had much growth but it seems things are turning for the better since the beginning of the year so i am hopeful i will see some noticeable growth soon.

Was out of town the last week and away from tank. I had a friend come and house sit for us mostly so he could keep an eye on my tank. I had him do a couple water tests to make sure things didn't get out of hand and he is colorblind so i was a bit concerned this wouldn't work out.

So after I got home, the tank looked great! No issues with any parameters and I did every water test i have.
    Salinity: 1.026
pH: stable, my probe is not calibrated but pH has not changed in months
    Alk: 8.5
    Cal: 440
    Mg: 1410
    Po4: undetectable
    No3: undetectable

The Alk is the only one which has changed much, down about 1.5, which typically sits right at 9.9. My sps are starting to grow more which I believe/hope they are just using more.

    Not much has really changed.

I have been thinking about using the ZEOvit system but it is something i would do in a couple months if i decide to go that route. I have been trying to find some before/after pictures but not a lot of people post pictures for before.

so glad to hear everything made it through the "away" time! - it's such a relief isn't it??!!! I've had the heart breaking experience to come home to a crash twice (when my tank was a FOWLR) - it's such a sinking feeling and both times I lost fish I had had 3+ years - and you really can't blame the person - if they're not a hobbyist, they don't know what to look for or to see that could indicate a problem.

I am glad you told me this AFTER i am back. I was pretty nervous about leaving it in someone's control who knows nothing about aquariums. I wouldn't have blamed him had something gone wrong.

I went over a lot in detail and told him to let me know if anything looked different. I had decided a few days before I left, I would not have my friend make any adjustments to my system. I figured if one of the tests sounded like something was wrong or if something else was happening I would have contacted Civic, since he lives about 15 minutes away and beg him to help me out. But no problems at all thankfully.

Well that was a successful trip out of down, good for you, excellent planning. I need to start doing test runs on automation so I can go out of town.

I am assuming you have gone to Zeovite.com? Sigh I should not have. o_O I am seriously rethinking it.

I did go to their site. I have calculated costs up and everything. It really is expensive right at the start but seems to not be too expensive once you have what you need. Except the reactor. Wow are they proud of those plastic tubes. That's alright though, I have even designed a reactor which will cost less than $50 made of PVC. So I have REALLY been thinking about it. There are a couple other things on my plate first though, I am saving to get a controller, then I will be shopping for a new skimmer since I will need a better one to use the zeovit, then it will probably be next, other than more coral...

Sound answer. They really really encourage an excellent skimmer. If you do the DIY post it please. Uggg I am looking at controllers too, will it ever stop?????????????

Oh most definitely will make a post. I actually already have pictures starting and I am trying to make it as simple as possible so it can be easily replicated. No it will never stop

As for ZEOvit I would stay away as it can complicate your system significantly. I like to keep things simple.
