I finally got around to take a pic of my tank, although probably not the best pic since my camera ain't that good. You won't find any fish in there yet cause the tank has gone fallow for about 9wks now after an ich outbreak. The fish are in a couple QT tanks awaiting their new home. I don't have any corals cause they're hard to come by here in Hawaii (legally that is). Plus, I just don't have the skills to take that on (props to all you reefers), so I resorted to the poor-mans plastic reef ;D.

I like it too! very nice looking. good job on the placement of your "corals" they really do look real (from the pic that is) about 120 bucks and you can't kill them, I love it:)

Thanks guys, and thanks for the Karma ! Yeah, generally speaking I wasn't a big fan of plastic rocks/coral but these pieces are suprisingly good looking for fake stuff. The rocks look realistic and the coral, although you can tell their fake, they aren't overly fake looking, if that makes any sense. The corals all come attached to the rocks, so pretty much plug & play. LFS around here don't sell coral and if you want local live rock, forget about it unless you want to pay a pretty penny for it. Also doesn't help that no online store will send live stock/rock here. So, gotta make do with what I have, and that's why I went with the fake stuff.

There are some sweet spots that tourist don't frequent, but some of the ones they do, to be honest, they are pretty damaged. The most popular, Hanauma Bay, was badly damaged in the past from too much people/carelessness, but the state has a pretty good program now, limiting the amount of people and closing the park on certain days. They also have a good program which tries to educate incoming swimmers about not stepping on the reef, not feeding, etc. via a video before they can enter into the park. The last time I went, I swam around with some turtles, which are very well protected here (touching or messing with them will hit you with a hefty fine and possible jail time). You just need to know where to go to find the sweet spots around here.

It's a shame that people dont just look and not touch  never dived on a coral reef but my friend goes over to egypt twice a year to dive in the red sea. He says it's fantastic.

Great tank, really like the rock background
