By alk. I meant KH. Retest the KH. For it to be that low, it may have been a test error. Over time, however, your corals will cause it to drop.

Hahaha! I didn't know KH ALK was the same thing, silly me. That being the case I guess I will check it again. After I finish my tank and equipment maintenance.

Man what a job! Anyways! my KH went up to 125.3 ppm. I did add a very tiny amount of baking soda, plus changed 10 gallons of water.

125 is good. You could stand to get it to about 3.2 meq/l, which would be another 3-4 teaspoons in 72 gallons. Do a teaspoon a day for 4 days to bring it up slowly.

What the hell was I thinking? Obviously I wasn’t! Spending a short time in a freshwater forum was enough for me to see my ways. I let cheap equipment failure and the expense of constantly replacing those cheap things, plus some water issues get the best of me and cause me to walk out of something I love and enjoy.
I am back and smarter than before, I will take my time with this build, my first line of business is lighting, I plan to go with LED’s for sure.
I am glad I came to my senses before I invested too much for a planted tank, I will start by tearing down what I have started, clean up the tank and let it collect dust for a spell.

Thank you oldfishkeeper! Yes, what was I thinking, I'll post a pic later on how far the freshwater business made it in my tank, hahaha!

I missed my reef just days after it was gone. but now I know more than I did a year ago, the corals I will keep won't quite be the same as I kept in my last tank.
