My 72 gallon bowfront rebuild build. Fresh or Salt?

    i kinda didnt stop at hd but i will tomorrow, i got to say im glad i saw this thread i had been wondering how good the stand was but hey im not going to complain i got the tank and stand for $50 not a bad deal at all, i had to fix the center brace with plexiglas epoxy and some stainless steal screws other than that leak checked pass and my repair well lets say this hell better have frozen over if it breaks lol.

    So like I decided to give the stain a test run and WOW! does it ever look nice. Looks really good. What do ya all think?

    Nice, it really brings out the natural grains in the wood!

    That stand must of been some really cheap oak, it looks not near as good as the red oak supports I put on it. But it looks OK I guess. So ::) I don't think I have any more excuses not to tear down the 40 and set up the 72.

    I spent $22 for enough red oak to make 6 supports. I got 2 in the back 2 in the front and 2 on the sides. should be good to go now and the wood screws added should make for a much stronger stand than the staples.

    The fun has just started, Will I didn't break anything. I got a mini max in the rock pile somewhere. Only animal not accounted for. I am taking a coffee break :D

    Will that's what is left. After removing the drain to my overflow box, I am left with no doubt that it will have to be redone. Anyone know of a way I can keep my cheato alive without a tank?

    Man! That red oak matches the tank perfectly. To bad the rest of the tank wasn't made of red oak.

    looks beautiful! can't wait to see it all set up! You did a nice job on the staining on the stand! Hope everything makes the transfer well!

    oohh yea me too!! Their struggle will just start since the tank will go through a mini cycle, I will be surprised if I lose nothing. I will have a pretty good bacteria start since half the water will be old stuff, the rocks are in water and I will use an old filter which had bacteria in it all ready also.
