    "Excuse me Flow..."

I am just wondering what everyone thinks about my flow pattern

    75G Tank shot 9.20 to show x and flow.JPG

Over on the left side is a K1. The current that it kicks out is unimpressive to say the least. However im just wondering if it needs to be more than that.

I have a mj1200 sitting around doing nothing. What im thinking about doing is moving the mj1200 on the left side down to around halfway down so its shooting a current right across the center of the tank.

Then axing the K1 and putting the other mj1200 in its place but up high and pointed toward the back right corner. This should create some "intermittent" currents since it will be kind of a swirl that is "cut" by the 4 returns which would go directly through it.

Right now the left side of the tank where the K1 is, is a slightly lower current zone.

    Thoughts?

I've heard (read) it said before that you cant have too much flow in a reef tank...my experience in other areas of life would tell me that this is false... opinions?

Added some LR - Changing the aquascape slowly

I got some new dry rock yesterday. I probably got about 150 lbs of it actually.

So i am changing my aquascape around...slowly.

I added alittle bit of the rock last night and now im going to monitor it to see if any of my params change, before i add any more.

    I probably added about 20lbs

So here is what it looks like right now. its going to change quite a bit when i put more rock in again. While i definately liked my first layout and i think it would be great for a FOWLER, there really wasnt much real estate for placing corals - which have really gone up in interest since i actually got the tank. Especially SPS.

So i have to create some space to fill with frags.

I also included a night shot. Its alot brighter in person. This was a blue LED light bar that i bought in the auto section at Walmart for less than $20...sweet

My project for the weekend is to cover the back...black

What do you think of the new A.C.?

Well i ended up getting a little carried away with my reaquascaping effort.

Here are some pics of what i ended up with. You can see how it looked earlier today in the first pic. I also added a black background so that it didn't look weird anymore.

Its kinda tough to see in the pics because these were taken on my phone but there are all kinds of shelves and outcropings in all parts of the wall for me to fill with coral!

There is also alot more room for swimming because the rock is very open and pushed to the back So the fish can, and do swim down the back behind the whole wall and there is a good 6 inches in the whole front to swim...plus caves and the like.

all in all it is alot more suitable for a reef now.

Id say i have about 150 lbs of rock in there now. About 100 of it is live, the new 50 was dry base rock. Im going to throw 5lbs of GARF grunge behind the wall next week

    So what do you think?

i would make that huge rock pile to the left a lot less dense as this will cause dead spots and stop flow, it will also allow water to site in one spot and be stagnet

Its fairly open. I'm gonna post a vid cause i cant get it with my camera. The water seems to be flowing around the whole tank pretty good...

New AC. V3 or 4.0...i lost track

Ok, i think i have arrived at the rockscape for now. The previous one was too high in the tank which was screwing it up with flow and coral placement.

So i ended up redoing the whole Right side of the tank. Here are some pics.

I have to say, i think i have been pretty good about always posting pics.

Also posting a pic of my skimmer which is pulling some nice dark green junk now.
