And as for #1, you don't need to get it all at once. It took months for me to afford allllll that LR. And I couldn't wait that length of time to take care of all the other stuff that needed to get taken care of.

When I got my 75g, I was in the exact same predicament you are. My set up was not good at all. A Craig's List find, the guy had second and third rate stuff for EVERYTHING. So get a good amount of LR to bring yourself up to 75 or 80 pounds, then go down your list. Along the way, pick up 10 pounds here, 15 pounds there.....a little at a time. In no time flat you will have it up to par (Well....no time flat is about 6 months I figure with all the other stuff you need). But definitely save lighting for last. You will, in all likelyhood, spend the most money on your light fixture and bulbs.

you've never had algae? algae uses phosphate chances are if you have algae there are some phosphate in your tank, your algae is just using it, so its undetectiable.

yeah I personally would add more LR especially if u plan on having a reef tank... as far as it being up for a week.. I usally let mine be up and running for atleast one month before adding fish... but that is also cuz i am fairly picky on every little detail lol
