Hello again everyone, My new wife and I purchased a house recently and decided to put a fish tank in our living room wall. I had most of the parts (minus the wood) previously setup but wanted to start fresh with a clean install. Check it out...

Here was my plan on hardware configuration:

One of the most important parts was to sure up this wall. The bottom 2x4 was warped BAD so it was a bit of a challenge but we got it done.

    The help: (Kage and Fenny)

This video is prior to the fuge setup.

The next step is to fill my fuge - anyone have suggestions? Its in operations but no DSB or anything as of yet.

The last pic of the tank in the wall was after putting the sand in.. Kinda murky right now but the diatom pump should clear that up shortly. Going to "Crash Cycle" this bad boy as well. I have TONS of filter material from my existing tank as well as water and substrate. Going to use some Bio Spira as well to help out. (Not sure if any of you have used this before but I have used it 4 times in the past with a few tanks with great success. )

A few questions - How much sand would you guys put in a 20 gallon tall tank for a fuge?

Should I have live rock in there as well?

Sea Grass - Good idea in a fuge? If so does it require a ton of light?

Looking like you are off to a good start. The room presentation framing looks good.

Very nice. I want to do this someday with mine. I have a wall that backs up to my garage and someday I will get it going. Cannot wait to see the tank with fish in it.

I'm moving this thread to the Show Off Your Fishtank forum as the I Made This forum is mostly for DIY stuff. Good luck!

Thanks! That framing is temporary - we want to do crown molding or something "fancy" - I say we, but it is really my artistic wife. Another entry to the "honey do" list.
