I just got a call from my land lord that my apartment will be tented for termites. I have two 10 gallon tanks (one salt and one fresh). I have put much time into both tanks, so I want to make sure the fish and the tanks survive. Any ideas?

What people do in this situation is completely cover and seal the tanks with plastic and then hook a hose up to the cover with air being pumped from well outside the house to create a positive air pressure under the tank cover.

You might also consider taking the fish back to the store for keeping and then turn off the power and seal the tank. Maybe leave the water pump and heater on only.

seal it, pump in air from outside, turn off the skimmer and all pumps, you do not want any more air hitting it from inside the fumigated area than what may seep through, best of luck I know others here have gone through it so hopefully they will chime in as well.

10 Gal Tanks ? Just remove a few gallons and walk them to the car and take them where you will be staying while the building is tented .

Thanks all for the suggestions... yes, it probably will not be too hard to move these tanks.
