So I woke up this morning to find my eshopps float valve had split in two. The back chambers of my biocube where completely filled and my salinity dropped from 1.025 to 1.022. What do I do?! I emailed eshopps about it. Should I get a refund? Replacement? What would YOU do?[IMG]

I cant tell from the pic, has the plastic snapped or has a rivet or bolt fallen out?

It's up to you, but if they offer a replacement, that would be my choice. You still need an ATO, so unless you want to go another route you may as well replace it.

There shouldn't be much stress on that piece so it shouldn't break. Just make sure you don't have any weight from the plumbing on it before you replace it so the same thing doesn't happen again.

Cool thanks. Could it be that when the water level rises above the float it puts stress on it?

MM yeah. The float needs to be set so that it almost level in relation to the water surface when it's in the off position.

Yeah it usually is but when I turn off the return pump in my biocube to do a water change or feed, the water rises a few inches above it.

I really dont believe water level rising has enough force to break a piece of plastic like that.

I broke a bracket just putting one to many turns on the set screw. Snapped it in two right at the bend where it hangs on the rim of the tank. It doesn't take much.
