I agree that the upward pressure on it from being submerged a few inches shouldn't be enough to break the plastic. Yes, plastic can be the weak point in a system, but in this particular case, I don't see that being an issue.

If it is eshopps IS selling a poorly designed product they may not even know, so certainly contact them. I have always found in situations where I have to call CS that the benefit of the doubt is a good place to start - and a simple question has resolved more CS issues than I can count now:

    "What would you do"

When you call, just see what the person on the other end says to that... be non-confrontational, and politely conversational. Chances are the person you're talking to is not the one who designed the part or conspired with a shifty vendor to rip you off, but they WILL know who can get to the bottom of things if they aren't the one.

If there's been any irreversible damage to your livestock, or if the tank over flowed and damaged your floor then you obviously have more concerns than replacement, and having the customer support staff on your side can often make the difference between full service assistance and going to court or even just getting in a grudge match.

I fully agree with everything said here. A little kindness and respect and general cordial attitude during your communication with them could go a long way, they will want you back for business.
